We are a bookshop. If you want to know more click on the links down the side or up the top. Our opening hours are: Mon-Thurs 9.00-5.30, Fri 9.00-7.30, Sat 10.00-4.30, Sun 12.00-4.30 For emergencies, like a birthday, anniversary etc, phone after hours 0414 961 073 Fees apply!

And please drop in anytime - we love seeing people in our shop, especially if we are feeling vulnerable and lonely. And can a website ever replace browsing in a bookshop, the feel and the smell of books and the interaction with other people? We all know the answer is maybe.

Smiths Alternative Bookshop is owned by Strolly Pty Ltd which is owned by Peter Strong who in turn is owned by all his life experiences and the experiences of his parents, his siblings, his sons and his daughter, his friends and his teachers. He is also owned by certain books that have affected him more than others, this includes "The Dragons of Eden" and "Cosmos" by Carl Sagan, various Zen Buddhist tomes, "Tortilla Flat" by Steinbeck, "The Lord of the Rings" by Tolkien, "The Book of Five Rings" by Miyamoto Musashi, and other books.
